Bugler Developments’ Otterfield Road project is transforming previously under-used brownfield land in Yiewsley into a vibrant mixed-use development delivering much-needed affordable housing and an enhanced community facility. The scheme is part of a wider regeneration programme that will deliver 95 affordable homes across two nearby sites, together with an improved local library and community space.

Supporting the Build – FIRMA’s solution
FIRMA has been engaged by our long standing client, Bugler Developments, to design, manufacture and deliver the masonry support package for this project. The project has a number of complexities that required bespoke engineering and careful coordination to ensure compliance and structural performance.
Key technical aspects of the masonry support scope included:
- Varying cavity depths ranging from 48mm up to 220mm to address different insulation and structural conditions.
- Structural loads ranging from as low as 1.2kN/m up to 26kN/m, requiring precise engineering evaluation and bracket design to accommodate wind loads and masonry dead loads.
- Secondary support brackets installed on select corner details to carry heavier architectural components such as GRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete) panels.
- Extended projections in some areas with brackets extending up to 275mm above slab level to support overhangs and façade elements while maintaining structural integrity and buildability.
These engineering specifications reflect the complexity of providing robust masonry support across multiple façade conditions and architectural features, enabling Bugler to deliver both visual quality and long-term performance.
